I’m a planner, and like to be prepared. While I’m confident that we can and will get through this, I know that people are being cautious and taking precautions to prevent exposure to COVID 19. My first priority is to make sure that all of us are healthy and safe so there are lots of future birthdays and anniversaries to celebrate! So here’s the plan:
We’re staying open as long as Erin (that’s me!) is healthy. Our production staff is on alert that at the first signs of illness they must stay home. Not should. Must. Brenda (aka Mom) will be holding down the fort at home. She loves making cakes and seeing you all, but her immune system is still pretty sluggish after chemotherapy.
We always take sanitation very seriously, and you’d be hard-pressed to find people who wash their hands more often than we do. In addition to frequent and thorough hand washing, we’re also using vinyl gloves for an extra layer of protection. We have moved all of our products behind the counter to minimize contact with the general public, and have increased our schedule for cleaning high-contact surfaces like the debit machine and door handles. (Please note that our debit machine accepts tap, which is a great way to avoid that surface altogether.) We always have a bottle of hand sanitizer on our counter for customers and recommend grabbing a squirt if you’re planning to eat your treats before you have a chance to wash your hands.
Our general cancellation policy is 1-week notice for regular cakes, and 1-month on wedding cakes, and can offer store credit for prepaid orders. If you need to cancel your event/party, please give us as much notice as possible. We order supplies for the week on Tuesday, so it would be helpful to know before then. We will do our very best to accommodate cancellations made at least 2 business days prior to pickup/delivery, but depending on the type of cake and the amount of notice, we may have to charge for perishable ingredients purchased for your order (e.g., whipping cream, fresh fruit).
Stay safe. Wash your hands. We’re going to get through this.
